It seems that more and more Americans are finding ways to blame someone else for their problems - worse than that they are getting away with it. Remember the old news story about the woman who spilled the really hot coffee from McDonald’s on her lap and then sued and won? That mentality seems to have seeped into the fiber of American life in recent years. If I sued every time I spilled something on myself I would certainly be a very rich woman. I actually accept the fact that I am a total klutz and spills happen.

Most recently we have had to pay for thousands of people in bail-out scenarios because they didn’t read the fine print on their mortgage or understand their financial situation well enough to know that maybe that was just too much house for them. Some of that blame can go to lenders or the government. The bottom line is that taking personal responsibility for your actions can save you and others a lot of pain and misery later on. When we were house hunting a little over 4 years ago we were pre-approved for a ridiculous amount of money. Had we followed their perimeters we would have had money for a house but nothing else. We could not have afforded to pay for food, utilities gas etc… Do I blame the mortgage lenders? While I do think those numbers are misleading, I realize it is on me to make the best decisions for myself and my family. That is a part of the freedom we enjoy, no one tells you what you can and can’t do with your money. The result of your bad decisions can hurt you in the end but it is your decision to make. Where the government can step in would be to provide counseling services for people who are overwhelmed by financial decisions that are over their heads. How about some common sense classes in High School. We used to have home economics when I was a kid. At a young age kids need to be learning how to balance a check book, understand options for saving money, and basic skills for living in the real world. These things should be a must in all schools.

Now we are on the path to “bail outs” which only end up punishing the hard working citizen’s of the country for the mistakes of others. If the US government does not show us an example of fiscal responsibility how is there hope for our children to learn this lesson. It’s on us to hold on to our values and share them with the next generations. We can’t entrust this task to anyone else, including our government. Take the time to teach your children and share the importance of personal responsibility with them. They will be better, more self-sufficient people because of your efforts.

On a side note, April 15th is quickly approaching. We all know this to be the day to file our tax returns, however, recently this day has taken on a new life of it’s own. This year all over the country Tax Day Tea Parties will be held. It is a way for people to e demonstrate their desire for responsibility in government with our hard earned dollars. We all read about the Boston Tea Party as children and have admired the risk those patriots took at that time to fight taxation that was driving them into poverty and proping up government control. Now all these years later and seems like we are experiencing the same type of government spending and control. I for one and very excited that so many average citizens are speaking out and allowing their voices to be heard. This after all is what makes our country great. The ability to stand up freely and peacefully and speak your mind! For more information about a Tax Day Tea Party in a town near you, you can go to http:/www.taxdayteaparty.com. If you feel strongly about what has been happening in our country in recent months consider attending a Tea Party near you. It is a small way to have your voice heard. Let’s work together to teach personal responsiblity and protect our country from further debt to pass on to our children and grandchildren.

God Bless!

Lately I have been feeling a strong call to action. As a mom, when I feel my family is threatened, it is impossible for me to sit back and do nothing. It is very easy to feel helpless. I am just your average American mom. I take care of my family and work hard to teach my children strong family and faith-based values. I have always been so proud of my country. Proud to be an American. I admit that every time I stand up for the National Anthem I cry. I understand the sacrifices that have been made to give me the life I have today and I understand the blessing of being born here. I often wonder why God chose to put me here when I could have been born anywhere. Unlike so many, I was not born into government oppression, deep poverty and abuse. As a woman I can walk the street without hiding my face. I am married because I chose that for myself, not because it was forced upon me. My husband and I are partners and I am not afraid to speak my mind. I am greatful for these things. I realize that living here is my birthright. Why? I am not sure but what I do know is that it is my responsiblity to cherish and protect that which I have been given. By grace God has chosen this for me. I will not waste it. I want my children to live and grow with these same freedoms and blessings and to cherish them and pass them on to their children and so on for generations to come.

Although I know that this American experience is not perfect, I can’t think of another place I would ever want to be. The difference in America has always been the ability to make something of yourself if only you try. With hard work and tenacity, dedication and faith anyone can reach for the American dream. Not everyone will achieve their goals but the ability to try has always been ours for the taking. Let’s not allow the ideals of a few to destroy this unique promise for more. Let’s hold true to our All-American values. As mother’s, daughters, sisters, wives and aunts we have an amazing influance. You may think that your opinions don’t matter. You may think your voice can’t be heard. The question “What can I do that will make a difference?” may come to mind but don’t let that stop you. This is a venue for mom’s to be heard. Whether you are a working mom or staying at home. Wheather you are educated or not this is a place to come. A sanctuary for those who love the traditional values of America. Together we are strong! I understand the constraints of being a mom. Nothing comes before your children. Time is limited and often so are your resources. Still protecting this country to pass on to your children is no less important than standing up for them against a bully, fighting for their education, nurturing their souls, and nursing them to health. These are all things worth fighting for!

Our politicians today no longer represent our core American values. Those values laid out in the Constitution and the values fought for by the men and women of our military. Some of those men and women died for this country to hold on to the freedoms that our government is willing to throw away in return for satisfying their own agendas. There are very few governement representatives that actually have the best interest of the people in mind. It is hard to stand up and stand out in that environment. Just think about your own life and your own friends. Sometimes it is even hard to admit your views to them. You fear retribution, you fear unpleasant arguments or being taken out of context and so you say nothing. Imagine the pressures of being in the congress or the senate. That environment has been plagued with corruption. They owe everyone for getting to where they are and the payoff is too great to fit the needs of the people into.

Let’s take this opportunity to stop being the silent majority. We can make a difference. We can save our traditional values, we can hold on to the hope of bigger and better things, if only we work hard. We don’t need someone to hand us a free pass. All we need is to be allowed the opportunity to achieve and we will do it!

Please join me by expressing your thoughts and feelings here. Together, I know we can come up with positive ways to make a difference in our country and in the lives of our families. Conservative family values are not dead in spite of what the media would like you to believe. Don’t be ashamed of who you are and what you want out of life! I look forward to meeting you and sharing ideas here. Thanks so much for all you do!!

Sincerely,
